Writing Effective Titles and Descriptions for Art Products
5 min read
If you list paint-by-numbers designs for sale on a marketplace, your title and description are what help potential buyers find and choose your product. Here are practical tips.
Writing Good Titles
A good product title is specific and searchable:
- Be descriptive: "Sunset Beach Paint by Numbers PDF — 24 Colours, Printable" is better than "Beautiful Artwork"
- Include format and difficulty: Customers want to know what they are getting before they click
- Use relevant keywords naturally: "paint by numbers", "printable", "digital download", "colouring page"
- Mention the subject: Landscapes, pets, portraits — these help buyers search
Writing Descriptions
Your description should answer the questions a buyer would have:
- What is included? List all files (PDF, PNG, colour guide) and their sizes
- How difficult is it? Mention the colour count and estimated painting time
- How do they use it? Explain that they print it out and paint the numbered regions
- What do they need? Paper, paints (acrylic, watercolour, or markers), a printer
Honest Product Descriptions
Be straightforward about what your product is and is not:
- It is a digital file, not a physical kit with paints
- Results depend on the customer's painting and their printer quality
- Describe the difficulty level accurately — don't call an Expert-level canvas "easy" to paint
Good descriptions build trust and reduce returns and negative reviews.
